Sergiy Gryshko spoke at the Paris Arbitration Week satellite event organised by the Ukrainian Arbitration Association

On 3 April 2019, Sergiy Gryshko, partner and head of the Dispute Resolution practice of Redcliffe Partners, spoke at the Paris Arbitration Week satellite event 'Hot topics from Ukraine: Crimea arbitrations and gas pricing review disputes', which was organised by the Ukrainian Arbitration Association (UAA) and the Paris office of Shearman & Sterling law firm.

Sergiy told the audience about enforcement in Ukraine of the UNCITRAL award in the Everest and others v. The Russian Federation case. In particular, he summarised the salient jurisdictional and substantive issues which the Ukrainian courts had to address in this proceeding. Sergiy dwelled on the issue of identity of the debtor and whether Russian State-owned banks were extension of the Russian Federation for the purposes of enforcement, and how the Supreme Court justified jurisdiction over Russia and denied its defence of sovereign immunity.
