Personal Data Protection

Ukrainian law defines personal data rather broadly as “information or aggregate information related to an individual who is identified or may be identified”.

Based on that, almost any information about an individual may be considered as “personal data”.

The regulations also foresee rules and obligations for collecting, processing, storing and transferring personal data and prescribe notification obligations towards employees and authorities. Violations of the Ukrainian data protection law can cause severe liability risks and can even lead to an imprisonment of up to five years.
