On 5 December 2017, Olexiy Soshenko, Managing Partner and Head of the Banking and Finance practice at Redcliffe Partners, took part in a workshop in Frankfurt am Main dedicated to the topic “Healthcare PPPs: Hands-on experience and lessons learned from Germany”. The event was organised by Dornier Consulting, and supported by the Ministries of Health and of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
Olexiy Soshenko gave a presentation on the PPP landscape in Ukraine. He provided an overview of the political and economic situation in Ukraine, and the legal reforms currently taking place in the country, particularly the ongoing legislative developments relating to PPP. Olexiy also described the opportunities for PPP in healthcare, taking into account the recent medical reforms and the need of alternative financing by state-owned healthcare institutions.
At the seminar the German best practices in Public-Private Partnership projects in the healthcare sector were discussed and demonstrated. The main objective of the seminar was to facilitate the use of PPP models in countries in transition, Ukraine being the focus of discussion. Amongst the speakers were leading German experts with profound experience in health PPPS and hospital management, international financial institutions and banks, as well as a number of heads of Ukrainian healthcare institutions.
