International guide to anti-corruption legislation

Ario Dehghani, counsel and head of the Compliance and EU Law practices of Redcliffe Partners, together with Yulia Brusko, an associate in the Compliance practice, co-authored a chapter on Ukraine in the international guide to anti-corruption legislation, published by Clifford Chance.

Clifford Chance prepared this guide with a view to comparing a range of anti-corruption legislation in several jurisdictions by asking ten key questions. In this manner, the main differences and similarities between legislation in respective countries are identified.

The chapter presents an overview of the key issues in the anti-corruption sphere, including the definitions of bribery and public officials under Ukrainian legislation, covering certain important aspects of the local anti-bribery laws. The authors describe the treatment in Ukraine of gifts, hospitality and facilitation payments are, whether compliance procedures are required in companies, as well as describing the liability and penalties for breaching these rules and procedures.
