CEELM: What was your main takeaway from it?
Terentyev: Everything is ultimately achieved by motivated people. Even the most complex institutional reforms or high-stakes investigations depend on individuals who are committed, disciplined, and aligned around a clear purpose. Structures and processes matter, but real progress happens when teams believe in the mission and take ownership of results.
Leading through challenging periods rcinforced for me that motivation, trust, and collective determination are the true engines of sustainable change,
CEELM: Name one mentor who played a big role in your career and how they impacted you.
Terentyev: As students, we were genuinely fascinated by Professor Vasyl Kisil – his intelligence, integrity, and approach to legal thinking made a lasting impression, and I admired him from the very beginning of my legal education. His influence shaped not only how I analyze problems, but also how I view the profession itself.
CEELM: What is the one piece of advice vou’d give yourself fresh out of law school
Terentyev: Be courageous but never confuse courage with taking uncalculated or impulsive decisions. Build a long-term plan, stay out of your comfort zone, and choose challeng es deliberately – not randomly. Purposeful risk is what truly shapes a cureer.
